For more than two decades, the Field of Dreams playground has been a place where children climb, explore, laugh, and grow.
As the playground has aged, safety standards and building codes have continued to evolve. To help keep the space safe and enjoyable, the playground is inspected regularly and improvements are addressed as needs arise.
But maintaining what we have is only part of the story.
The long-term vision is to rebuild the playground so it can continue serving Salem families while meeting modern safety and accessibility standards. The organization recognizes that a project of this scale will require significant community support and fundraising.
It’s not simply about replacing playground equipment.
It’s about creating a space where the next generation can make the same kind of memories families have been making at Field of Dreams for years.
Field of Dreams was created to give families a welcoming place to spend time together.
Today, the park includes play areas for younger and older children, trails, outdoor fitness areas, picnic spaces, and a performance stage — all surrounded by a community that has helped keep the park going through volunteering and sponsorship.
Every improvement helps protect that experience and ensures Field of Dreams remains a place Salem can be proud of.
